About
Welcome to Cocorico - 5 Rue du Bac, a charming bistro nestled in the heart of Paris at 5 Rue du Bac, 75007. With its proximity to the illustrious Musée d'Orsay and the Louvre, Cocorico offers not just a meal but a taste of authentic French culture. Renowned for its rustic yet sophisticated decor, the bistro invites you into a culinary experience that draws on traditional French techniques while embracing the freshness of local ingredients.
The menu is a love letter to classic French cuisine, featuring a delightful array of options that cater to all palates. Starting with the Mille feuille de bettrave et chèvre frais (€11.50) and the enticing Cuisses de grenouilles en persillade crémé (€17.90), diners are promised an adventure that begins with artful presentations and bold flavors. Perhaps the highlight here is the signature coquelet rôti, a succulent Cornish hen served with a fragrant herb sauce, cherished by regulars as one of the best meals in the city.
For the heartier appetites, the Boeuf carotte à la bière (€23.00) and the Belle Entrecôte de Bœuf (€27.00) deliver comfort and satisfaction, enriched by expert cooking that brings the meats’ flavors to life. One reviewer mentioned the “buttery mashed potatoes” accompanying the coquelet, which certainly contribute to the warmth and indulgence of the meal. Another popular choice is the Escargots de Bourgogne, which dazzle in a luscious garlic butter sauce, a nod to the bistro’s dedication to classic French fare.
While most reviews celebrate the quality and taste of the dishes, a few have pointed to flaws, indicating that dining at Cocorico can occasionally be a mixed bag. Complaints about dry chicken and hastily-served meals suggest the importance of timing and consistency, especially for those journeying through Parisian eateries. Nevertheless, the overall consensus remains one of satisfaction, especially in relation to value given the central location and the reasonable pricing.
Cocorico - 5 Rue du Bac emerges as both a destination for locals and visitors alike, providing an accessible introduction to French cuisine that maintains a sense of warmth and sincerity. So whether you’re stopping by after visiting the Louvre or seeking a cozy spot for dinner, this bistro is poised to leave a lasting impression—one delicious plate at a time. Don’t forget to reserve your table ahead of time to ensure a delightful experience!
“ This is one of my favorite spots in Paris. The specialty is the coquelet, a very small male chicken, served with a great sauce and very buttery mashed potatoes. Each time is excellent, service is fantastic and finally the Creme Brulee, probably the best I've had. Great location, right by Musee d'Orsay. Don't miss this spot if you are in the area, not a bad idea to reserve ahead of time to guarantee your table!!! Lots of other options as well!! ”
“ This place was recommended by a local, and it did not disappoint! Walking distance to Louvre. The food was amazing - frog legs came with a delicious sauce, the steak was cooked to perfect medium rare, and the duck breast was perfect. Everything tasted even better with some local beer on draft. Considering the central location of this place, prices were more than reasonable. Definitely recommend!!! ”
“ Overall the food was good but nothing crazy. We felt like the chicken was dry at certain parts and there was not enough sauce. We had the seafood couscous which also felt a bit dry. Would recommend the beef tartare ! Decor and location of the restaurant was really great as well. ”
“ We had a great meal here. The place was mostly empty at 5:45 pm when we arrived, but it filled by 50% in the next 30 minutes. Frog leg appetizer had the most delightful cream sauce and fresh bread. The lamb shank was mostly excellent except for 1 portion that was overcooked. The salad was really good too with 3 brie croquettes. Service was excellent. ”
“ I went there because of the reasonably good reviews but was underwhelmed by the food, despite great location. This place should be called Intro French cuisine for tourists. When French meals come out so fast (under 10 minutes), uncharacteriscally French, I have to wonder how long ago they were made. Huge disappointment regarding "famous" roasted whole cornish chicken that was dried, symptoms of having been precooked and sat. Advice: never mess up your signature/famous dishes. They had also somehow bastardized the frog legs that were submerged in abundance of watery sauce. The portion of sesame tuna fish in Nicoise salad could have been a bit more generous and the anchovies killed the taste of tuna. Bad pairing. Overall, I do not recommend this restaurant unless you have no other option. It's not bad food, but it lacks the essence of authentic French cuisines. ***For families with small kids, there was no kids menu. ”
“ Cocorico is a French restaurant in a lovely, central location—perfect for tourists exploring the area. The setting is elegant, and the ambiance is welcoming. However, the cuisine feels tailored more to tourist tastes, with safe and somewhat predictable flavors that don’t fully capture the richness of authentic French cooking. While the dishes are decent, they don’t quite justify the relatively high prices. It’s more about the experience than the food itself. Service is polite, but not especially memorable. If you’re looking for true French flavor, you might find better elsewhere. A decent option, but not outstanding. ”
“ Great place! Had amazing selection of French traditional comfort food and dishes. I loved the wine of the day! It was amazing. Our waiter was incredibly warm and thoughtful. Overall, just an amazing meal. ”
“ Absolutely loved this restaurant! Food was Amazing! Service was great and the atmosphere was very welcoming, the restaurant being just off the main road made the whole experience very peaceful! Come Hungry food was very filling! ”
